Changing Places Requirements

Changing Places toilets are larger than standard disabled/accessible toilets and include additional equipment which allows people with various disabilities to the use the toilet safely and comfortably.  The ideal room required for a Changing Places toilet area is 3x4m / 12m2.  The size of the room is key to any Changing Places facility and not only does the room need to be big enough to accommodate the user and up to 2 assistants, it needs to be large enough to house all the required equipment.

The required Changing Places equipment is listed below (click items for more information) and you can also downloaded the specification and equipment guide as a PDF for future reference by clicking here or the room layout image below,

The British Standard BS 8300:2009 states that Changing Places should be provided in all new publically accessible buildings such as transport hubs, shopping centres, concert halls, hospitals, church halls, educational facilities, residential establishments, civic centres, arenas and stadia.

Changing Places should be included in addition to standard accessible toilets and baby changing facilities and the team at Astor-Bannerman are always on hand to guide you through every step of the way from the planning stage through to installation and maintenance.
