“Celebrating the 10th Anniversary of Changing Places Together”

July 19th 2016 marks 10 years since the Changing Places campaign was officially launched!

We thought this was a great opportunity to celebrate all that the campaign has achieved and help raise more awareness of the life changing difference Changing Places toilets make to the lives of thousands of people every single day.

As co-sponsors of the Changing Places campaign (Aveso Ltd) we have teamed up with The Centre for Accessible Environments (CAE) to run a free CPD style training session at the Barbican Centre to give technical advice to access consultants looking to increase their knowledge of Changing Places.   This technical presentation is aimed to give professionals a chance to learn more about what Changing Places are, what makes them so important to people and their social lives, and understand how to optimise the use of space for the provision of accessible toilets.Changing_Places_CPD_Session.jpg

Those traveling from outside of London can make a day of it and check out the Barbican Exhibition: Designing for a Living City or sign up for a Barbican Architecture TourMuseum of London is also around the corner.

We want as many people as possible to take part in Changing Places Awareness Day and there are lots of things you can do to get involved.  Here are a few ideas…

We want you to get creative and spread awareness of Changing Places in your area.  Here are a few ideas of other things you could do, or you can get creative and come up with your own ideas too.

  • Do you write a blog?  How about writing a ‘blog in a bog’?!  You could write about what Changing Places mean to you from the comfort of your toilet and perhaps film a vlog for YouTube!
  • Spend the night in a Changing Places toilet (please make sure you get permission first and vacate when it is needed!)
  • Walk from one Changing Places to another carrying a Changing Places banner or flag to highlight the distance between some Changing Places.  How far would you go?
  • Record the amount of times you or the people at your work go to the toilet in a day.
  • Wear blue and white to support the Changing Places campaign.
  • Spend some time outside a Changing Places toilet near you and hand out flyers to explain what Changing Places are and why they are needed.
  • Join in the conversations on Facebook and Twitter using the hashtags #IncLOOsion, #CPAD and #ChangingPlaces and tell people where you would like more Changing Places toilets and what they mean to you.
  • Visit a Changing Places you’ve not been to before and share your photos and comments.
  • Change your social media profile pictures to the Changing Places Awareness Day Logo.
