20 Years ago something wonderful happened…
20 Years ago, friends in Oxfordshire with a vision of providing solutions to people with disabilities were asked to make a kitchen table which could be adjusted in height. The challenge was accepted and more orders followed.
Soon the friends were contacted by the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign and asked if a height adjustable wash basin could be made for boys with MD. Once again, basins were made and developed and proved to be a huge success leading to additional orders.
20 Years ago, in 1993, Astor-Bannerman was born!
Following the success of many bespoke height adjustable solutions such as pool tables, computer desks and kitchen cupboards, soon Astor-Bannerman were designing and producing height adjustable baths, shower seats and developing their already popular wash basin.
In 2001, the company out grew their Oxfordshire home and moved to Gloucestershire where they worked closely with Social Services and focused primarily on the bathing market for disabled clients and grew the product range.
The following year Astor-Bannerman became an exclusive UK distributor for the German care and treatment manufacturers Beka Hospitec. This enabled Astor-Bannerman to grow further in the bathing and care market and become a serious provider of care equipment.
In 2009 the sister company Active Bathing was born to provide care solutions for the healthcare professional and expansion of the premises took place.
Growth continued for the company and in 2011 Astor-Bannerman became the Astor-Bannerman group of companies with Active Bathing by becoming a main investor in Beka Hospitec and starting to provide care solutions across the globe.
This year there was a new addition to the Astor-Bannerman group in the form of the Mencap Changing Places Sponsor Aveso, providing advice, design, supply, installation and aftercare or equipment to expand Changing Places facilities across the UK.
Now with approximately 100 staff, the future is very bright and exciting for The Astor-Bannerman Group.
