Accessible Facilities for Every Family
What’s Inside: Our Specification
Within the two accessible hygiene rooms at Camp JoJo, we installed:
- 2x Astor OT200 Ceiling Hoist Systems – providing safe and practical transfer support within each hygiene room.
- Integrated hoisting provision – the systems were incorporated into the shower block design to support accessible personal care for campers.
- Ceiling-fixed installation – both hoist systems were securely fixed into the timber frame of the modular building.
The installation of two Astor OT200 Ceiling Hoist Systems provides dedicated transfer support within the shower block, helping families access the hygiene facilities during their stay at Nags Head Farm.
Supporting Accessible Camping
For families with children with additional needs, suitable personal care facilities can be an essential part of being able to access outdoor activities, holidays and camping experiences.
The hoist systems provide:
- Safe and supported transfers: Providing hoisting assistance for users who require support when transferring.
- Improved accessibility: Helping make the shower block suitable for a wider range of campers.
- Greater dignity: Providing appropriate specialist equipment within dedicated hygiene rooms.
- Support for families and carers: Helping carers provide personal care more safely and comfortably.
- Inclusive camping: Helping Camp JoJo create an accessible camping experience where ‘Everyone Can’ enjoy time outdoors with their family
Hoisting Within a Modular Building
The shower block at Nags Head Farm is constructed using a timber frame modular building, requiring the hoist systems to be carefully integrated into the building structure.
Astor Bannerman installed both Astor OT200 systems as ceiling-fixed solutions, ensuring the equipment was incorporated into the hygiene rooms as part of the overall facility design.
This demonstrates how specialist hoisting can be incorporated into different building types and accessible environments, including modular camping facilities.
