Changing Places UK have today revealed the list of Local Authorities which have been successful in their application for Changing Places Toilet funding.
The Government has announced that funding has now been allocated for new Changing Places Toilet projects in England. In the first application round, £23.5 M worth of funding has been allocated across 191 councils allowing more than 510 new Changing Places Toilets to be installed across England. A second round is expected for the remaining £6.5 M.
This funding will make a massive difference to the lives of disabled people across England and their families, opening up venues and locations that previously many disabled people were just unable to access, or to visit for longer periods of time.
As part of the Spring Statement, Chancellor Rishi Sunak said that more than £23.5 million will be allocated to 191 councils across England to install life-enhancing Changing Places toilets in public places and tourist attractions, dramatically increasing accessibility in areas where users want them most. An additional £6.5 million will be allocated in a further round later in 2022 and will focus on areas where there is little or no access to Changing Places toilets.
