Hygiene Room Overview
Bridgewater School in Newcastle is a mainstream inclusive school with a strong commitment to supporting pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). The school already provides a wide range of tailored facilities and resources, ensuring students can access education in a supportive and inclusive environment.
As part of this commitment, the school identified the need for a new Hygiene Room to meet the personal care and moving & handling requirements of a student with complex SEND needs.
Hygiene Room Facilities
Astor Bannerman worked closely with the school’s SEND team and estates department to design and install a purpose-built Hygiene Room, equipped with specialist equipment to make daily care routines safe, efficient and dignified.
Products supplied and installed included:

OT200 Ceiling Track Hoist – providing smooth, safe transfers and reducing manual handling risks for staff.

Astor CTX2-CP Height Adjustable Changing Table – delivering a comfortable, hygienic surface for assisted care with the added benefit of showering and easy cleaning.

Accessible Toilet & Wash Facilities – ensuring practical, hygienic use for both staff and students.
Additional finishes included slip-resistant flooring, suitable drainage, and wipe-clean surfaces for infection control.
