We’re proud to have supported the BBC’s DIY SOS team in their latest life-changing transformation for eight-year-old Raffi and his family in Bracknell.

After contracting E. coli, Raffi was left with brain damage and reliant on a wheelchair. The family’s home was no longer suitable, meaning he couldn’t return from hospital until essential adaptations were made.

The DIY SOS team – alongside more than 600 incredible tradespeople and volunteers – stepped in to completely remodel the family’s home, creating a bright, accessible, and joyful space that meets Raffi’s complex needs.

As part of the project, Astor Bannerman donated an Astor Kiva height-adjustable bath with a Neatfold stretcher, giving Raffi and his carers a safe, comfortable, and dignified space for personal care and relaxation.

Raffi’s father, Dean, described the transformation as “life-changing” and said the changes have played a “massive” part in Raffi’s recovery since returning home:

“It’s been absolutely beautiful to see the transition and Raffi is enjoying it as much as we thought he would. He’s now taking steps, remembering, talking – all because of the spaces that have been created here.”

Presenter Nick Knowles said it was a “huge undertaking” and praised the dedication of the hundreds of tradespeople involved, adding that the environment has “certainly helped” Raffi’s progress.

We’re honoured to have played a small part in Raffi’s journey – and to see the positive impact that thoughtful design, accessibility, and specialist equipment can have on a child’s recovery and wellbeing.
