The Challenge
Design & Adaptation
Following an initial visit in September 2023, alongside an Occupational Therapist, the space was assessed and a Kiva height-adjustable bath was recommended.
However, installing the bath required more than just swapping out equipment.
The existing room needed a full adaptation to make the layout work effectively.
This included:
- Replacing wall tiling
- Installing new flooring
- Updating plumbing and electrics
- Relocating the WC to create the required space
The Solution
The final installation included a Kiva Bath with Neatfold stretcher, providing safe transfers, full support, and height adjustability for carers.
Louise also chose to self-fund an Air Spa system, adding a therapeutic element to the bath and enhancing Vinnie’s overall experience.
Installation Journey
While the initial survey took place in 2023, the installation was completed in March 2026. The extended timeline reflects the reality of many home adaptations, where funding approvals, layout decisions, and changing requirements can take time to resolve.
By working closely with all parties involved, the final outcome delivered a solution that met both practical and personal needs.
The Outcome
The difference for Vinnie has been immediate.
Louise shared:
“He is so much happier now and it’s a massive improvement. Vinnie also has the ability to move more as the bath works a bit like a hydrotherapy.”
The new setup not only improves comfort but allows for greater movement and relaxation during bathing — something that simply wasn’t possible before.
For Louise, the height-adjustable bath and improved layout have also made a significant difference to daily care, reducing physical strain and making the process more manageable.
