With festival season in full swing, we are excited to announce that as so-sponsors of the Changing Places campaign (Aveso) we have teamed up with Why Not People for their official STAR STUDDED launch event on 1st July at The Troxy, London.

Why Not People is a members club who are hosting fully accessible gigs and events aimed specifically at people with disabilities.  Event line-ups include music, comedy and dance from World Class artists.  So, whatever your needs, you can now enjoy specialist events run by Why Not People.

Why_Not_People_Logo.pngAveso are proud to have introduced the idea of a mobile Changing Places facility to Why Not People to ensure that their events are fully accessible for those who need extra assistance using the toilet.  As such we have arranged for the Mobiloo http://mobiloo.org.uk/ to be at their launch event which will be hosted by TV and Radio presenter Jameela Jamil who is the founder of Why Not People and headlining the gig will be Rap Artist Tinie Tempah.  More details can be found at the bottom of this post along with details of how you can grab those last remaining tickets!

As co-sponsors of the Changing Places Campaign, we understand that without dedicated specialist Changing Places toilet facilities across the country, carers and family have to meticulously plan every single trip out and even are forced to change and care for their loved ones in highly undignified and unsuitable conditions such as toilet floors and in the back of cars.  As a result, many less able people are confined to their homes. This is completely unacceptable and does not give everyone the same equal opportunities that many of us take for granted.

At Astor-Bannerman and Aveso we hold a wealth of knowledge and experience in accessible venues, we make the provision of a Changing Places toilet facility seamless and easy regardless.

Last year we had the pleasure of supplying our battery powered ‘Nivano’ wall mounted changing bench to accompany the ceiling hoist and toilet for the Mobiloo mobile Changing Places toilet ground breaking facility which travels to events UK wide to allow people to be changed with dignity when out and about. We know the importance of having this equipment available to make trips out much easier and reduce stress so were happy to provide the changing table last year which has had some great feedback for its ease of use. The Mobiloo is available to hire for events near you and you can find out more by visiting http://mobiloo.org.uk/mobiloo/

Accessible via side door or tail lift, the Mobiloo mobile Changing Places at the Why Not People launch will be manned at all times. If you do need to be hoisted on the day, you will need to bring your own sling with you in your bag.

Changing Places are available across the UK and are growing significantly in number to almost 800 nationwide. There are Changing Places situated in Museums, Airports, Petrol Stations, Hospitals, Supermarkets and Theatres to name a few and the full list can be found on the Changing Places map here: http://www.changing-places.org/find_a_toilet/location_map_and_national_register.aspxCPlogo.jpg

If you go along to the launch event or any other accessible events around the country we would love to hear your feedback about your experience of Changing Places! You can tweet us @AstorBannerman or email us here.

We regularly work closely with architects and building contractors to make the provision of Changing Places easy.  So if you are thinking of installing a Changing Places facility, please visit our dedicated page and contact us for a free site survey, demonstration, assessment or quotation.
