Kingswood Playing Fields in South Gloucestershire is now home to a fully compliant Changing Places toilet, giving people with complex disabilities better access to outdoor leisure and sport.

As part of a wider modular build led by Healthmatic, Astor Bannerman completed a full turnkey solution for the Changing Places facility — our team installed insulation to the walls, lined and insulated the ceiling, completed all electrical, plumbing and soil waste works, and dressed the space with hygienic wall panels. We also levelled and laid the flooring, fitted lighting, an extract system, heating panels, and upgraded the door locking system.

Our Project Manager Rob worked closely with the client team throughout, ensuring the room was delivered to specification and opened smoothly.

About the Location

Kingswood Playing Fields is a key green space in the local community, offering open playing fields, a new pavilion, and now — thanks to this project — a Changing Places toilet. This addition means individuals who are unable to use standard accessible toilets can still visit the site, knowing there’s a safe and dignified facility available.

The Changing Places toilet is situated within the newly built modular unit, close to parking and amenities, making it easily accessible to all.

Building Inclusive Spaces in Public Parks

Outdoor recreation spaces like Kingswood Playing Fields often lack suitable facilities for people with complex needs. This Changing Places toilet helps break down that barrier, making the site more inclusive and usable for all families.

By working alongside Healthmatic, Astor Bannerman has helped ensure this space is not only accessible but welcoming to every visitor — regardless of their personal care requirements.
