Assisted baths provide safe, accessible bathing solutions for users with limited mobility or other more complex needs. They assist with safe access or transfer into the bath with reduced manual handling risks, improve support and comfort for the bather, and support are designed to minimise carer strain and discomfort in professional and domestic care settings.
Elderly people, adults, young people and children with disabilities, long-term conditions, or mobility challenges can benefit from assisted baths. They also benefit families and care staff who provide support.
When choosing equipment, it is incredibly important to identify what that person needs, and crucially also what they want or are used to, and tailor the equipment accordingly. A bath could be deemed most suitable whatever the person’s age or disability.
Some of the features required will depend on the needs of the person who the bath is for. In general though, look for adjustable height and integrated safety features when choosing accessible bathing equipment. The internal size and shape of the bath should also be considered in conjunction with any specialist internal supports required.
